Abstract

4941. Bell, C. L. March 15. W a g o n s for foundry ladles. A ladle b for pouring metal into one or two rows of moulds is mounted on trunnions in a carriage c running on rails parallel to the rows, and one of the trunnions is geared to the carriage axles or, preferably, to an axle of a trolley d coupled to the carriage, so that the ladle is gradually tilted as the carriage moves. The gearing comprises a worm-wheel f on a trunnion driven by a worm g and bevel gearing from a shaft k, which is driven by a telescopic universal coupling l from a shaft n. This shaft is driven by a reversing crown train o on a shaft q driven from a wheel t on the trolley axle. The reversing-train is operated by a hand-wheel z, allowing the ladle to be tilted to either side.
