3363. Magnier, P., Brangier, P. A., and Tissier, C. Feb. 20. Fats etc.; fatty acids; soaps; glycerine.-Relates to the treatment of fatty bodies to produce saponification and to convert the oleic acid into solid fatty acids analogous to those used in candlemaking. The fatty body in a liquid state, or, if a solid, its solution in oleic acid or oil, is treated with sulphuric acid. The product is mixed with hot water and the emulsion heated under pressure in a digester while the water is decomposed by an electric current. At the conclusion of the treatment, the fatty acids are removed from the top, and the mother lyes are treated for the extraction of glycerine.
