Abstract

199. Thompson, W. P., [Kayser, J. G.]. Jan. 3 Lubricating bearings. The lubricant is contained in a sheet-metal casing b which surrounds the lower part a of the bearing. The casing is attached by screws c to lugs d, and, in the case of a self-aligning plummer-block, passes between the spherical surfaces on the lower half a of the bearing and on the block i. The vertical ends f of the casing fit closely against the bearing, so that no oil is thrown out by the splashing produced by the lubricating-rings g.
