Abstract

13,248. Delano, L. P. Jan. 21, [date applied for under Sec. 103 of Patents &c. Act, A.D. 1883]. Brasses and bushes ; lubricating.-Relates particularly to bearings in which the wearing-surfaces are formed from two dissimilar metals disposed in strips. Oil is distributed by grooves 16 extending from the oil-hole 15 towards the ends of the bearing and returning to the oil-hole. In forming the bearing, the shell 11, preferably of bronze or the like, is placed in the casing 10 with a mandrel or shaft inside it, and Babbitt metal 12 is poured in. The shell 11 is formed of wearing-strips 13 and connecting-pieces 14. If the casing 10 is in two pieces, they may be held together by projections 17 of the Babbitt metal.
