21,793. Preston, R. T. Oct. 31. Hinges.-Relates to hinges for doors and the like, particularly doors for railway carriages and other vehicles exposed to the weather. The pin b of the hinge is made taper, as in Fig. 1, so that it can be easily driven out when the parts of the hinge require to be separated. To prevent the pin from becoming loose, a nut may be screwed on the small end, or a linch pin may be used, or a setscrew f, Fig. 4, working in a groove, or the pin may be split at the narrow end. The head of the pin may be made square to take a key.
