Abstract
20,275. Robinson, B. Oct. 10. Moulding saggers &c.-A bat or slab D of clay is placed on a loose plate C on a table A of a pipemaking or extrusion machine fitted with an adjustable centre K and a die plate H carrying a cutting-rim E for trimming the edges of the slabs. The table is raised by a lever until the plate is in contact with the rim, the clay is forced through the die so as to unite with the slab, and the table is released, and forced down by the extruded body of the sagger as shown in dotted lines. Air is admitted to the inside of the sagger through adjustable pipes F and a hole F<1> in the core. The core K and die plate H can be replaced by a slotted die plate for producing the slabs D.
