18,744. Sagar, H., and Chapman, J. Sept. 16. W a s h i n g-machines.-Relates to a benzene washing- machine, which may be used asawhizzer. Fig. 2 shows an end view. The rotating inner cylinder is mounted on studs A, one of which carries a toothed wheel D, driven by the rack E, mounted on the carriage F, sliding in guides G, and reciprocated by the pin L projecting from the toothed wheel H. The direction reverses at the end of each complete rotation of the inner cylinder. The toothed wheel D may be disconnected from the stud A by operating a clutch controlled by the lever S. The machine is then used as a whizzer, and driven by means of a belt pulley secured to the stud at the other end; the extracted liquid is drawn off through a cock at the bottom of the outer casing.
