13,355. Estill, H. van W. June 27. Screw unions.- Relates to means for connecting a water meter to a service pipe. The connection 14 has two passages 15, by which the water passes to and from the meter, and is connected to the meter pipes 24, 25 by a screw union 26 made tight by a gasket 27. This gasket is made elliptical, and is sunk in a hole of corresponding shape to prevent it from turning and blocking the passages when screwing-up the union. When the meter is removed a screw-cap is placed over the connection 14, which then allows a free passage for the water.
