Abstract
9827. Darby, J. T., and Henley, A. May 10. Measuring.-The fabric passes over a measuring- roll 8, which is preferably half a yard in circumference and is provided with divisions 11 on the end which pass before a fixed pointer 12. On the shaft of the roll 8 is fitted a pinion or disc 13 having one tooth which actuates at each revolution of the roll 8 a wheel or indicator 14, marked with yards and half-yards. The fabric is held to the roll 8 by a spring roll 10 mounted on a frame hinged at 5 to permit of the roll 10 being lifted to insert the fabric. The board on which the fabric is wound is held between grooved discs 31, 35 mounted on shafts 22, 23, the disc 31 being revoluble on the shaft 22, which is spring-actuated. The Provisional Specification describes an arrangement in which the rolls are replaced by a table provided with spur-wheels over which the fabric is drawn.
