Abstract
4416. Lamme, B. G. Aug. 4, A.D. 1898, [date applied for under Sec. 103 of Patents &c Act, A.D. 1883]. Distributing; regulating. - In direct - current systems the generator is so wound and connected to the circuit that it will supply the required current at near and distant points. This is done by causing different fractions of the current supplied to the sets of translating-devices to pass through the coils of the generator. Fig. 1 shows one arrangement, in which 1 is the armature, 2 the shunt coil, 3 the series coils, and 4, 5, and 6 bus bars. Resistances 7, 8, and 9 connect the bars 4 and 5, and these resistances are connected at intermediate points to the translating-devices, such as 16, 17, and 18. In a modified arrangement, only one resistance is employed, and the translating- devices are connected to different points.
