2699. Barratt, F. W. Feb. 7. Acetylene lamps.-To obviate the escape of gas and the consequent smell in domestic and other lamps, the water chamber is formed with two compartments A, B communicating by a bent tube or siphon C, by which arrangement any gas escaping through the water-supplying device G is trapped in the compartment B. Air is normally admitted to the compartment A through an aperture in the filling-cap D, and is permitted to escape from the compartment B, when filling the chamber, by a pipe E.
