Abstract

27,549. Ettles, C. Dec. 31. Glazing roofs &c.-The astragals A are rabbeted to receive the sheets of glass, and formed with grooves B for carrying away water of condensation. Grooves c are made in the wood or other caps C to receive strips D of asbestos or other packing. At the horizontal overlapping joints of the panes the astragals and caps are stepped or rabbeted as shown in Fig. 4. The eaves bar or still E is rabbeted and grooved, and covered with sheet lead. The grooves B lead to a horizontal channel e in the sill, and short downward channels conduct the moisture across the sill. Metal clips G fixed to the sill support the bottom panes. Fig. 5 shows in section a diagonal bar which is grooved to carry off moisture. The astragals may be fitted in place so as to be readily detachable.
