AÙrated beverages, raising and drawing- off.-Relates to apparatus for drawing-off beer and other liquids into bottles, jugs, tankards, &c. The liquid is supplied from the cask through the pipes to the filling- tube p, which passes through the washer e and the filling-head b, the liquid s u p p l y being controlled by the valve q. The head b is provided with air-outlet passages f, and with a second washer d adapted to form a tight joint with the mouth of the vessel being filled. The tube p is connected by the links and levers o<2>, o<1>, o, m, k to the treadle l, which also actuates the bottle &c. rest g through the rod g'. In operation, the treadle is first depressed, so raising the filling-tube and lowering the rest, to enable the vessel h to be placed in position, after which the treadle is released, so allowing the spring x to raise the vessel and lower the filling- tube into the filling position. The valve q is opened when its stem q' strikes the bottom of the vessel, the filling-tube extending nearly to the bottom of the vessel, and so preventing frothing. A second depression of the treadle permits the removal of the filled vessel. The treadle mechanism may be arranged to operate in the reverse manner to that shown. A stand g<2> on the rest g is adapted to receive the vessel while the cover is being closed. The tube p may be dispensed with, the pipe s being connected to the head b and provided with a stop cock. The head may also be connected to the tube p, and either the tube and head, or the rest g, may be immovable. The valve q may be arranged at the lower end of the tube p.
