Collectors; conductors; switches.-Electromagnets E', E<2>, E<3> are carried by an endless belt D running on pulleys B on the vehicle, and are excited by current from a battery H or by the motor current &c. so as to actuate switches A at the road contacts or conductors, which may be in insulated sections. The belt may be in insulated sections supplied with current by brushes F', F<2>, F<3>, or other arrangements are made so that the magnets are only excited when they are on the underside of the belt and lying on the switch boxes. The switch may consist of an iron cover-plate A and a movable magnetizable plunger E connected to the main conductor G through a spring F. The conductor may, however, be flexible and made of iron or provided with iron pieces adapted to be lifted by the vehicle magnets to contact with the coverplates, or other forms of switches may be used..
