Abstract

Steam-generator furnaces.-A removable furnace, surrounded by a water and steam space and forming an auxiliary boiler, is arranged in proximity to the main boiler, so that the products of combustion therefrom pass through the flues or tubes of the main boiler or heat it externally. Fig. 3 shows the application of such a furnace to a Cornish boiler K, the auxiliary boiler A being saddle-shaped. It may be mounted on wheels. S, S are the connections between the water and steam spaces of the two boilers. The furnace may be applied in connection with an externally-fired boiler, in which case it is so placed that the furnace gases pass under the main boiler.
