Feedwater, heating and purifying.- The feed, heated on its passage within the pipes 16 in the boiler flues, or in any other convenient way, is passed to the spraying - pipes 15 situated within the purifying and precipitating chamber 6, and is there met by steam issuing from the spraying-devices 12, 13, the steam supply being taken from the dome 3 of the boiler. The impurities which are precipitated from the feed are discharged from the chamber through the pipe 21, while the pipe 23 is employed for collecting the surface scum. The water then passes through a filter 29, whence it is taken by the pipe 30 to the boiler. On the cessation of the pump, a natural circulation takes place through the pipes 19, 16 and the purifying- chamber. Suitable and convenient valves are provided where necessary.
