Abstract

12,299. Stott, J. H. June 1. Yarns, warping and beaming.-In machines of the kind described in Specification No. 2850, A.D. 1890, the shaft c<1> of one of the rollers a, b, c for drawing off the yarns or threads from the bobbins &c. is driven by a friction coupling, consisting of a plate on a loose pulley pressed by springs against a collar or boss on the shaft. The motion is transmitted to the section shaft d by means of a shaft o<1>, o<5>, o<6>, a sliding conical friction bowl o, and a plate p. The bowl o is forced against the action of the spring q by the lever r and spring v<1>, the pressure of which is relieved by a weighted lever x, operated by arms y<1> carrying the roller z, in accordance with the tension of the yarns passing over the roller. The motion may also be communicated to the section shaft by making the shaft o' in two parts, connected together by a friction coupling similar to that on the shaft c<1>. A brake band 4 is operated by arms 9, 11 on the shaft 10, and a connecting-rod 12, from the hand-lever 13, which also, by means of bell-crank levers, operates the belt fork 24 and the belt fork of the separately-driven nip-rollers of the stopmotion. The stop-motion is provided with three or more drop-rollers to equalize the tension.
