Abstract

28,510. Oates, F. Dec. 7. [Cognate Application, 5462/10.] Ironing - m a - chines with endless aprons.-The goods are pressed and finished by passing them between two preferably endless aprons round a series of rollers, of which some of the foremost are heated and some of the farther rollers cool or cooled, the pressure exerted on the goods being given by the tension placed upon the aprons. The farther rollers may be smaller to give increased pressure, which may be obtained by positively driving some rollers and retarding others or rotating the others from the aprons. The goods are led between aprons a, b subject to nip-rollers e, the pressure of which is regulated by a weighted lever f. They then pass between large heated rollers j ... j<7> and smaller heated rollers k ... k<4>, and then between rollers k<5> ... k<10>, which are either at ordinary temperature or are cooled. They are then led out between further nip rollers e, the aprons passing back over guiderollers m or between positive driving-rollers n.
