Abstract

10,983. Neumann, S. May 13. Supports; locking-apparatus to prevent theft.-A bicycle support comprises two rods 1 pivoted to plates 12 secured to bent plates 4 which engage the rear forks 2, 3 and are secured thereto by a screw 8 and block 9 as shown. The outer surfaces of the plates 12 are inclined so that, when in their lower position, the rods 1 extend outward and support the cycle. The outer ends of the rods are connected by links 18, which are extended in the lower position but are folded up when the rods are turned upwards, so that their curved inner surfaces rest on the back stays. A rod 20 pivoted on the links 18 engages the stays and secures the rods in their upper position. In the supporting position, the rods rest against stops 22 secured to the plates 12. The rods may be locked in action by any suitable locking-apparatus. In the form shown, the lock comprises a bolt 24 carried on a pivoted pin 23 and pressed by a spring into engagement with a recess 22 in the rods. It is released by means of a suitable key 26.
