9315. L a k e , H. H., [Clerici, G. R.]. April 22. Sociables; bicycles; convertibles. - Relates to means for converti n g an ordinary bicycle into a sociable. Fig. 2 shows a sectional front elevation of the sociable. A cross-bar D, carrying saddles E, E' at its ends, is fixed in the seat pillar. The cranks are replaced by arms of the form shown, each carrying a pair of pedals. The handle-bar is removed, and an arm F, Fig. 3, with or without a stay F<1>, is fixed to the head. Handle-bars G, G<1> are mounted in sockets on the ends of the arm F, and are connected to the steering-post by chains and chain-wheels H, H<1>, H<11>.
