Abstract
5795. Oberegger, A., and Greaves, E. C. March 9. Sifting coal, ores, &c.- Sieves are arranged one above the other in the same or different shaking frames. In a modification, four series are arranged to form in plan the sides of a square, and so that the material passing through one is guided by a plate to that beneath it. Fig. 11 shows a modification on the same principle, but with the sieves arranged round a circle instead of round a square. Separate sieves may receive a rotary motion at one end, and be hung at the other by rods, chains, &c. so that only a longitudinal reciprocation is allowed. Balls may be used for supporting the rotary end.
