Abstract
741. Lapsley, J. Jan. 11. Spring wheels; felloes or rims.-A spring wheel is shown in partial side elevation in Fig. 2, and Fig. 5 shows, in section, a modified form of rim. The S or C-springs d have their inner ends attached by bolts e to the channelled inner ring f, connected by spokes g to the wheel hub. Their outer ends are secured to a wooden rim k by wooden screws or by bolts h, which are countersunk in the outer surface of the rim to give a good seat for the rubber tyre a. The wooden rim may be replaced by a hollow metal rim b, the inner surface of which receives a flat disc c to give a good seat for the springs, and the outer surface has holes through which the bolt heads may be passed. The holes in the inner ring through which the bolts e pass may be elongated.
