29,496. Gray, T. U., and Bass, F. Dec. 13. Lubricating shafts aud other moving parts of machines. The lubricant is supplied from the oil reservoir B to a channel N in the shaft C, so that centrifugal force tends to drive it out through the passages n to the bearing-surface. In addition to the aperture m<1>, through which the oil is supplied, apertures m<2> may be provided to allow oil to work from the bearing back into the reservoir. A filling - cock b<2> is provided and a drain cock b<4>. When the apparatus is applied to a joint under steam pressure, such as the bearing of the shaft of a rotary engine, the steam pressure may also be admitted to the oil reservoir. A pipe b<5> with a cock b<6> is, in this case, provided.
