23,268. Douglas, G. Oct. 11. Embossed fabrics.-Relates to fabrics woven from a combination of animal and vegetable yarns and afterwards mercerized to contract the vegetable yarn and cause the animal yarn appearing on the face in the form of a pattern or design to stand out in relief by reason of its greater length. The yarns are wound together upon the weft bobbins or their equivalent, and are thus introduced into the fabric side by side by the same shuttle. The animal yarn does not require the same amount of twist as when it is introduced by itself, and consequently a better effect is obtained, especially in the case of lustre yarns, such as mohair.
