21,738. Bomborn, O. Sept. 22. Gas and explosive-vapour engines, supplying hydrocarbons to. Fuel is fed into an adjustable cavity h in the slide valve D through the pipe E, and is forced into the vaporizer C or combustion chamber through the port m and valve d by an inert gas under pressure supplied through the pipe F. The vaporizer C may be heated by the igniting- flame, and the admission of the charge to the cylinder controlled by valves B, C<1>. Instead of adjusting the capacity of the cavity h by a screw H, a cock may be put on the pipe F for controlling the supply of fuel. When gas is used as fuel, the vaporizer is dispensed with. Using the inert gas for forcing prevents premature combustion.
