Gas holders.-Holders such as are used for storing acetylene gas &c. are provided with means for preventing escape of gas into the air when overcharged. One arrangement consists of a pipe which is normally sealed at its lower end by the water in the tank but which is opened when the bell rises above a certain level. Or a valve which is opened by coming into contact with a stoppiece may be arranged in the top of the bell. The escape pipe conveys the gas to a place of safety or to another holder.
