Abstract
7802. Foxlee, J. E. March 31. Acetylene lamp generators. Fig. 1 shows a pendent lamp, but the invention may also be applied to bracket and table lamps &c. The water container consists of an open cup C, which is supplied from a closed reservoir A through a tube B, a constant level being maintained in the cup C on the bird-fountain principle. In a modification, the reservoir A is open to the atmosphere, the water being controlled by a tap B'. Water passes to the calcium-carbide container down a pipe E', which can be closed by a spindle valve E', and then up a surrounding pipe E and through a non-return valve e<2>. A section of glass tubing c<2> is inserted in the supply pipe, so that the water can be seen, and the supply regulated by the tap C<1>. The carbide container D<2> is divided by vertical partitions into radial cells, and is rotated by a lever E<4>, or by a wheel-and-worm arrangement, so that each cell is successively used. The generator is provided with a safety-valve and with an air-tube having a tap.
