The plates f, f<1>, the shape of the chamber a, and the projection h, cause the fluid to impinge upon, and rotate the wheel e. The sensitiveness of the apparatus is increased by the use of an angular directing plate or partition d, Fig. 3. The plates f, f<1> may be replaced by a perforated cylinder surrounding the wheel e ; and perforations i permit of water entering the chamber c for cleansing the counting-mechanism from sediment and dirt.
