Bedsteads; tables; desks; sofas; seats.-The front legs of the bedstead can be removed by lifting out the rod b, Fig. 15, and the bed can then be reared up on the quadrant and wedged in the vertical position, when the lid of the box which receives the bedding forms a sofa or seat. The legs can be put in the box d, Fig. 12, which has an additional lid n. The front, which looks like a bookcase, can be turned down and supported by the lid of the box, as shown in Fig. 11, to form a desk. Fig. 13<bis> shows the way the mattress is connected to the frame and tightened by the wedges, shown in section, being forced under the end-bars. The head frame can be taken off and supported in the bed frame, which is then reversed to convert the bed into a table. The legs can be lengthened or shortened, as shown in Figs. 24 and 27, by inserting or removing an extension b.
