Abstract
9826. Thomas, A. H. D. April 17. Tooth brushes.-The bristles are arranged in a concave or convex manner to clean the outer or inner surfaces of the teeth. Fig. 2 shows a brush for the inner surfaces. The head is in three pieces d, e, f hinged together and kept in position by a spring. Figs. 4 and 6 show brushes for the outer surfaces of the teeth, a horizontal motion being given to the brush shown in Fig. 4, and a vertical motion to the brush shown in Fig. 6. Instead of a hinged head, as shown in these Figures, a rigid head in one piece may be used. Fig. 11 shows a brush similar to Fig. 2, but with the bristles on both sides of the broad flat stem so that both rows of teeth may be cleaned together. One of these brushes, Figs. 2, 4, 6, and 11, may be fixed at one end of the handle and another at the other end. Fig. 8 shows a telescoping handle for tooth brushes. The part n is kept extended by spring fingers p, q engaging with the other part m.
