5735. Smith, W. E. March 4. Disc-wheels; pneumatic wheels; felloes or rims; hubs.-Relates to pneumatic wheels for cycles and other road vehicles. The wheel consists of two parts, of which the outer is formed of two strips A, B bolted together to carry the tread C, while the inner is composed of a rim supported from the hub by spokes F, Fig. 2, or by two discs. Between these two parts lies an air tube E which allows of their relative motion, guides H or equivalent means being also employed. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the air tube is replaced by a series of small pneumatic wheels M carried by side discs 0 connected to the hub, lateral displacement being prevented by guideplates P. In another form, the strips A, B are extended nearly to the hub, where they pass between collars on the hub.
