Rotary distributors; contacts.-Relates to rotary distributors having a casing a of insulating material in which are disposed a number of relatively fixed contacts g consisting of spring- pressed carbon brushes j disposed in recesses i in the casing and connected to metal fittings h which pass through to the periphery of the casing a where their ends are bored to receive terminal screws. Within a recess in the casing a is accommodated the rotor disc the hub c of which is secured on the end of the distributor shaft d. The rotor consists of a disc b of insulating material in one face of which are embedded segmental contact plates f, f<1>, f<2>, f<3>, one plate f<1> being earthed by a metal peg e. The rotor segments are engaged by the fixed contacts g during its rotation, these segments forming a substantially continuous metal track, and the segment f<1> earths the contacts g successively. The insulated contact segments f, f<2>, f<3> are so arranged as to prevent earthing of the other contacts while the segment f<1> is in contact with or passing from one contact g to the next. The casing a is provided with a metal ring k at its inner face and a metal tip l at the apex of the conical casing to prevent excessive wear at these parts, and has also a lateral perforated lug m for attachment of the timing lever.
