Abstract
189,113. Joriot, C. Nov. 15, 1921, [Convention date]. Small-arms combined with other articles; firing-appliances; breech actions, movable barrel other than drop-down; single-trigger mechanisms. -Firing-mechanism for a double-barrel pistol comprises two sliding spring-pressed firing pins adapted to be held cocked by a rotary plate having holes adapted to register in succession with the ends of the firing-pins when the plate is rotated. The invention is specially intended for a pistol adapted to be concealed in any portable or fixed article in such a way that it is quickly available for use. In the construction shown, the pistol is combined with a walking stick. The handle 1, Fig. 1, of the stick forms the handle and breechbody of the pistol and is provided with a chamber 5 to receive the firing mechanism. The removable barrel-block 2, Figs. 2 and 3, is formed with two barrel bores 8 and is adapted to be screwed to the breech-body. The firing mechanism comprises two sliding firing-pins 28, Fig. 10, which when cocked bear at the front against a sear in the form of a rotary plate 18, Fig. 14, having perforations which can be brought successively into position to allow the firing-pins to pass. The plate is rotated step-by-step by an externally operated trigger-plate. The pistol is secured to a tubular section 3, Fig. 2, of the stick by a piston 11 having projecting pins 12 fitting in the barrel bores 8 and a rod 17, provided at the end with a pivoted catch 20. The rod passes through a longitudinal bore 9 in the barrel-block and through a perforation in the sear-plate, the catch 20 then engaging behind the plate. The piston is pulled in by a spring 13 and is provided with a spring catch 16 for holding it extended while the pistol is being attached. The pistol is released from the stick by the first step in the rotation of the searplate. A rod 10, Fig. 18, with a screwed end is provided for pulling the piston outwards until it is held by the catch 16, and also for cocking the firing-pins, for which purpose it is inserted through a hole 31 in the handle and screwed into a hole 27, Fig. 10, in a slide. Other objects to which the pistol can be attached include a sunshade, unibrella, whip, truncheon, feather duster, broom, butcher's saw, telescope, bag or bag handle, door-bar, a brake or change-speed lever, perambulator hand car, bicycle handle-bar, any tool, or " any part of an article of furniture or any place forming part of a dwelling."
