Fixed-chamber apparatus; valve systems for; with counting-apparatus.-Liquid stored in a tank under pressure of an inert gas is delivered to a measuring vessel and a valve is arranged between the vessel and a three-way cock controlling admission to and discharge from the vessel in such manner as to prevent the full pressure from being transmitted to the measuring vessel. The three-way cock 3 is connected by a conduit to the measuring chamber 1 provided with a vent v, the coonduit being fitted with a valve 5 acted upon by a spring 6 which tends to close it. The spindle 7 of the valve extends through a fitting 13 and, when the valve is closed, extends also through the forked end of a lever 11 pivoted to the part 13. The other end of the lever is connected to a rod 9 depending from a float 10. A rod 18,' the head 19 of which works with play in a recess 20 in the body of the valve 5, is worked by an eccentric 16 on the spindle 15 of the cock. In the position shown, the vessel is full, the valve 5 closed, and the head 19 of the rod 18 in its highest position. To discharge, the cock is turned to the other position, the rod 18 opening the. valve 5, and the float 10 falls until the rod 9 engages the bottom of the chamber, rocking the lever 11 and bringing a knife 14, which extends across the fork of the lever 11, over the end of the valve-spindle 7 to lock the valve in the open position. When the vessel is empty, the cock is turned to filling position again, the rod 18 moving upwards, but the valve 5 remaining open. At the end of the filling operation, the float frees the valve 5 which is closed by its spring. Counting mechanism may be operated from the spindle of the cock 3.
