Fixed-chamber apparatus, counting mechanism for.-An apparatus for delivering liquids, e.g. petrol, in measured quantities comprises two containers of equal capacity, each with supply, delivery, and overflow pipes controlled by crankoperated valves; a totalizing-meter is provided. The apparatus shown in Fig. 3 comprises two chambers 5, each of say 5 litres capacity. Each has a supply pipe 10, a delivery pipe 9, and an overflow pipe 11. The pipes 9, 10 are controlled by valves 14, and the pipes 11 meet in a checking-chamber 30 of glass or other transparent material. This is connected to the main tank by a pipe 31. In operation, the liquid passes from the pipe 28 through a valve 14 (not shown), which controls the connection between the pipes 28, 10 and to one of the containers 5. Thence it overflows through the pipe 11 into the checking-chamber 30, and fills a perforated bucket 33, which raises a detent 39 from a notch 40 in a wheel 41 on a crank-shaft 24. When this is rotated by a handle, the connecting-rod 22 operates the lever 20, which is pivoted at 21, opens the valve 14 in the delivery pipe 9, and closes the corresponding supply valve. The contents of the chamber 5 are then delivered through the pipe 9, the collecting-chamber 26, the pipe 27, and the hose 27<1> to the consumer. The rotation of the crank 24 operates similar valves on the pipes of the other container, which is thus filled and emptied as desired. In a modification, the bucket 33 is replaced by a float in a chamber the outlet of which is throttled. The filling of the chamber causes the float to rise and remove the detent 39. When the lever 20 is operated, the pin 47 on the lever 20 moves the link 45 and the wheel 43 of the totalizing-meter is rotated. During this movement, the stud 18 on the valve spindle 13 moves in the slot 17 in the spindle, but does not move the spindle until the lever 20 has continued its movement, during which the pin 47 moves in the arcuate portion of the slot 48, and the link 45 remains stationary.
