Abstract

187,561. White, A. E., (Elyria Iron & Steel Co.). May 18, 1921. Welding.-In electric butt - welding apparatus with roller electrodes, the electrode is formed with a cylindrical enlargement or hub upon which a large number of brushes, set obliquely in an annular encircling brush holder, bear. The brush holder is adjustable relatively to the hub. Copper conductors 179 are bolted to copper annular brush holders 180 which are concentric with the hubs 181 of welding rolls 149, 150. Flexible copper brushes 182 are swaged into oblique slots in the inner periphery of the holders. Vertical adjustment of the holders 180 is obtained by shifting the securing bolts 183 in slots in the conductors 179.
