Joints and connections.-A socket for receiving and supporting the end of a wooden rail a of a bedstead &c., has an open top, a closed bottom b an'd side walls s provided with inwardly-projecting ribs or flanges e to engage corresponding grooves in the rail. The walls s may converge downwardly to produce a gripping effect upon the rail end, and may be perforated as at g to lighten the fitting. Fig. 8 shows a modification in which the socket engages two rails a, a<1>. According to the Provisional Specifications, the supported rails may be of metal.
