Reinforced block-work walls; double walls.- Single and double slab or block walls are formed by fitting grooved solid blocks or slabs 1, 3, between vertical rods or tubes 2, 4 embedded in the foundation, the blocks or slabs being laid without bonding or breaking joint between the courses. The tubes may be filled with concrete or cement. The inner and outer walls may be tied together by metal or other ties or by a belting-course 5, Fig. 2. at the upped floor level, the blocks 5 being threaded on the uprights 2, 4 and having recesses 5<a> for the joists, and cheeks 8, 8<a>. Ventilating apertures 10 may be formed in the slabs. The corners consist of square or rounded blocks or pillars 11, Fig. 3, threaded on uprights 6 and tied to the inner quoin blocks 3 by metal ties engaging the inner and outer corner uprights, or concrete 7 may fill the angle. For windows and doorways, a wooden standard 14 may be secured to the outer wall 1 by a clamp or bolt and is fitted in rebated jamb blocks or pillars 12 threaded on uprights 13.
