Bands, strengthening, - Means for strengthening packing cases and also for preventing tampering with same comprise a hoop iron bending strip h which is passed through slots g in angle plates, adapted to connect the contiguous edges of the boards forming the sides or ends; one part e of each plate is disposed between the edges and screwed to one board, and the other part k is secured to the inner or outer surface of the contiguous board. The angle-plates and binding strips may be secured as described in Specification 168,003.
