Abstract

186,450. Brown, C. A. July 8, 1921. Tubes of special section; honeycomb and like tube apparatus.-Tubes for fitting between tube plates or for honeycomb apparatus and having twisted helical parts between their ends are so mounted in heat-exchangers that a swirling motion in opposite senses is given to fluid passing through adjacent tubes. The adaptation of these tubes to honeycomb apparatus is shown in Fig. 3 wherein such tubes have expanded ends 4 of hexagonal form and parts 5 fluted helically.
