Boxes; locking-followers.-An adapter for use with a container preferably provided with hinged sides or ends comprises a pair of spaced boards 1, 2, Figs. 1 and 3, having one or more inclined members 3 hinged between them, the lower edge of the board 1 moving along the base of the container, and the other board being slidably mounted in a channel plate 13 secured to one side of the container. Springs 6 pull the board 2 downwards, thus thrusting forwards the board 1 to compress the papers, small springs 9 preventing the boards from coming completely together in the dead-centre position of the springs 6. A plate 10 having turned-up edges 11 is attached to the board 2 and slides in the channel plate 13. The plates 10, 13 are attached by slips 16 engaging tongues 15 depressed from the plates. Two such adapters may be employed, compressing the papers towards the centre of the container. Instead of one board being slidably mounted in a channel plate it may be provided with a tab 21, Fig. 9, so that it can be pulled upwards by hand against the tension of the springs 20, springs 23 being provided tending to force the lower edges of both boards apart. The members 3 may be arranged vertically instead of horizontally, as shown in Fig. 10, and an additional loose board inserted between the board 24 and the papers, springs 27 keeping the adapter boards apart. According to one Provisional Specification, the adapter may be strengthened by providing an inclined strut between the boards with a pin-andslot connection so that the adapter may be locked in position. Such an adapter may be used with a container in which gramophone records are filed.
