Abstract
186,379. Vickers, Ltd., McKechnie, Sir J., and Bateman, L. H. May 25, 1921. Moulding-machines; clamping flasks.-In a combined jar-ramming and pattern-drawing machine, the use of a turn-over table is obviated by carrying the pattern B on a central part A of the table and the box D on a surrounding part C, the two parts being loeked for jarring and moved relatively for drawing. All the movements are effected by compressed air under control of a single valve N which, in the position shown in Fig. 3, admits air through pipes 3, 4, 5, to actuate respectively the lock-pins f, Fig. 7, so as to connect the parts A, C, the clamps E, Fig. 1, to hold the box D, and the jarring- cylinder I. This has a main valve 0, supplied by the pipe 5 and a pilot valve P constantly supplied from a pipe 2. When in the position shown in Fig. 4, a small quantity of air is admitted to the pipes 6, 7, 8 sufficient to start the vibrator j<3> and to blow back the locking-pins f as shown in Fig. 7, but not sufficient, until the valve is moved farther in the same direction, to actuate through pipes 9 the drawing-cylinders H and lift the box D and table part C, Fig. 10. When this is separated by about one inch from the part A, it releases a spring valve j<1> which shuts off the air from the vibrator j<3>. The part A may be heated by a burner K and has aligning pins a to engage holes in the part C and box D. The valve N has two notches n engaged by a plunger n' when in the position shown in Fig. 4 and in the off position and has ports which connect the pipes to exhaust when not connected to the pressure supply. Patters.-A device L, Fig. 1, blows dust from off the machine.
