Clamps.-The jaws of a clamp are carried by the cylinder and piston-rod of a pneumatic or hydraulic pressure applying device, the cylinder being guided by a sleeve on the jaw carrying the piston-rod. The jaw 1 is in. tegral with a cylinder 7 contain. ing a piston 9, the rod 13 of which is secured to the other jaw 2, which also carries a cvlindrical sleeve 11 to guide the cylinder 7 in its movements. Air or liquid under pressure is supplied to the cylinder 7 through a nipple 18 and passage 16 in the cylinder cover 14, a slot 19 being provided in the sleeve 11 for the passage of the nipple 18.
