Abstract

185,951. Nice, P. S. Sept. 7, 1921. Seals. -- A compressible metal seal for use in sealing mail bags, railway cars, boxes, petrol cans, &c. comprises a number of united extruded tubes each of circular, square, oblong, or other crosssection, or a single extruded tube oi oval, rectangular, or other crosssection and having a number of tubular holes, the tube or tubes being cut off into pieces of the required length after extrusion. Two, three, four, or more tubes may be united so that their axes lie in one plane, as in the examples shown in Figs. 2 and 3, or three tubes may be united so that each touches the other two as shown in Fig. 6. The seal may be compressed about a wire or the like by sealing-pliers having a jaw shaped to produce a V-shaped indent in the seal. According to the Provisional Specification, the seal may be made otherwise than by extrusion.
