Abstract

Teaching signalling; .code signalling mechanism; semaphore and lamp signals. - Apparatus for sending any predetermined message in code without the need for the operator to know the message comprises a movable arm associated with a slotted member adapted to be engaged by projections on plates carried adjustably on radial slots formed in a rotating wheel, the movable arm transmitting its movements to signalling members. In the form described, a signalling arm 2, preferably removable, is pivoted at 3 and adapted to be moved by an arm 7 through a pen-and-slot connection 11, 12. Attached to the arm 7 is a member 17 slotted as shown at 18, 19, 20. A number of plates 23 are carried in slots in the rim of a drum 21 mounted removably on the casing 10 and adapted to be rotated by the rubber rimmed wheel 35 turned by a handle 38. The plates 23 are held by a spring band 27 in one of the notches a, b, c so that one of the projections 24 engages one of the slots 18, 19, 2'0 to move the arm 2 to give dots or dashes. The drum 21 is kept running true by a pin 48, 49, which projects into the groove 26. Movement of the arm 7 also closes a contact at 41, 42 to give buzzer or lamp signals on both.
