Water-tube boilers. -In water-tube boilers wherein the hot gases flow between the tubes in a longitudinal direction, the gases are baffled by changing the general arrangement of the tubes in successive transverse sections any desired number of times. The. change of arrangement of the tubes may be accompanied by a change in their pitch or diameter. The drawing shows an arrangement of tubes on one side of a combustion chamber disposed at A, A, the gases entering between the tubes at C, C and leaving at D, D. The tubes are divided into groups E, F, G, H, I, J, adjacent rows of tubes in each group being staggered, and adjacent groups of tubes being staggered.
