Abstract
184,918. Dickinson, F. J. June 4, 1921. Pianoforte transposing rneans.-A frame adapted to be mounted on the keyboard and carrying a laterally slidable transposing keyboard consisting of the customary white and black keys, has extensible ends 8, 8<a>, having a range of adjustment sevoral times greater than the width of a piano key for use with pianos ending on other notes than A, and is furnished with depending fingers 9 formed of 'metal strip for insertion between the extreme keys of the piano and the piano cheeks. The keys 1, 2 of the slidable keyboard with their felted blocks 3 are attached by spring strips to a bar or runner 5 adapted to be slidable on the fixed bar 6 of the frame. The fixed bar 6 carries by means of spring strips the intermediary striking means, consisting of felted hammers or levelling keys 10, which in the form shown, are provided only for the white keys 12 of the piano, as shown in the middle part of Fig. 1. The two members of this transposing device can be made in foldable or separable sections.
