Abstract
184,856. Straker, A. E., Straker, L. V., and Straker, T. A., (trading as Rayward Bros.), and McClymont, S. J. May 17, 1921. Post files; locks.-Relates to loose-leaf binders of the kind comprising mating arched prongs one of which is movable relatively to the other and is adapted to be locked in the closed position by a reciprocating locking-bolt. According to the invention, the movable prong or prongs D are capable of movement independently of the locking-bolt H, and are formed by bending a rod or stout wire which is pivoted in bearings F on the baseplate, and is provided with a projection E<1> engaged by the locking- bolt in the closed position. The stationary prong or prongs B are also constructed of stout wire and provided with a projection C<1> to facilitate securing them to the base-plate. The locking-bolt has a spring portion J<1> adapted to bear on a transverse member G in the locked position, preventing complete withdrawal of the locking-bolt by abutting against the transverse guidemember I. A top cover is provided and is slotted for the passage of the projection E<1>, prongs D and locking-bolt.
