[Class 146 (i).] Visible card indexes; claw files ; covers.-In a loose-leaf binder in which cards 20, Fig. 1, are carried in overlapping formation on opposed sets of claws 18, 19, the sets of claws are movable at right-angles to and independently of one another. The prongs 18, 19 are fixed to bars 16, 17 respectively, slidably mounted between a U-shaped plate 10, Fig. 4, and a back plate 41 and having pin-andslot connections 32 with the arms of the plate 10 so as to allow of limited movement lengthwise and widthwise respectively. A lever 21 for operating the bars 16, 17 has a finger-piece 23 projecting through a slot 24 in the plate 10. An arm 26 on the lever 21 engages a lug 28 on the bar 16 which is held in its normal position by a spring 30. Another arm 25 on the lever 21 engages a lug 27 on a rod 33, Fig. 2, carried by bell-crank levers 34 pivoted on the plate 10, the ends of the levers engaging pins 35 fixed to the bar 17 and projecting through slots 36 in the plate 10, so that actuation of the lever 21 causes the bar 17 to move upwardly. A spring 37 returns the bar 17 and its operating devices to normal position. Separate levers for the bars 16, 17 may be provided if desired.
