Abstract

184,382. Horton, S. Aug. 20, 1921. Sprinklers, automatic.-The levers of automatic sprinkler heads are set to give a definite pressure on the valve diaphragm by applying the required pressure to a sliding plunger or rod f in the sprinkler head by means of a weighted lever p or like pressure-determining device, the plunger then being locked in position, as by screwing down a cap j, which is provided with a central hole k, of smaller diameter than the plunger f, for the passage of the rod l of the pressureapplying device. During the setting, the sprinkler head is held in position by a plug n on a base member, on which is mounted a pillar o carrying the weighted lever p. After the setting, the cap j is fixed by pinning, or by running molten solder into the hole k, notches being provided to enable the solder to run down into the space above the threaded boss d on which the cap j screws. The cap may carry or be formed with a waterspreader.
